Description	:	Martha Palmblade was born March 11, 1888 at Kisa, Ostergotland, Sweden. Her father was a shoe cobbler and farmer. There were eight children in her family and just as soon as they were confirmed thats when they took care of themselves. Her job when she was 13 years old was taking care of three little girls, daughters of the millionaire owner of a cut glass factory. Because of tough times in Sweden and the lure of "getting rich" in America, she decided to join two brothers and a sister in Aurora in 1907 whe she was 19. There were eight children in her family and just as soon as they were confirmed thats when they took care of themselves. Her job when she was 13 years old was taking care of three little girls, daughters of the millionaire owner of a cut glass factory. Because of tough times in Sweden and the lure of "getting rich" in America, she decided to join two brothers and a sister in Aurora in 1907 whe she was 19. She came to America on the ship S.S. Saxonia, arriving in Boston on May 10, 1907. Mrs. Palmblade traveled from Boston to Aurora by train. She was soon to meet her future husband, Melkar Nelson who had also come from Sweden before her. They were married on Dec. 6, 1907 and remained married for the next 56 years. The majority of their married lives they lived west of Aurora and rented farmland raising a wheat crop. Melkar and Martha had two sons, Martin and Harold. Mr. Nelson died on July 6, 1964. Five years later she married Ed Palmblade, a friend of she and her husband. He died in 1981 and she continued to live in her home until moving into the Hamilton Manor in 1981. Where she later died on Feb. 15, 1990.
