Description	:	Martha Wellborn, 90, longtime Donnellson resident, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Monday, March 7 2016 at Sunnybrook in Fort Madison, Iowa. Born March 10, 1925 near Keosauqua, Iowa the daughter of Franz and Lena (Arnold) Keller. Her mother died when she was an infant and she was raised by an uncle and aunt, Foster and Muriel (Keller) Van Steinburgh of Cantril. Following graduation from Cantril High School in 1942, she attended college to receive her teacher’s certificate and taught at Elm rural school near Cantril for three and a half years. On March 23, 1946 she married Bert Wellborn in Cantril. They moved to Donnellson in 1947. Martha was a member of the Donnellson Methodist Church serving several years as church organist and Sunday school pianist, 55+ years as an officer of Artaban Chapter OES, Donnellson and Chapter O, PEO, Farmington, and as a volunteer in the Genealogy Dept. of the Donnellson Public Library. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, camping and family. She is survived by one daughter Carolyn (Lew) Stewart of Bullhead City, Arizona; one son Richard (Carolyn) Wellborn of Livingston, Texas; seven grandchildren: Amanda Wellborn (John) Brown of Grovetown, Georgia; Lee (Katie) Wellborn of Fort Worth, Texas; Kaci Stewart of St. Louis, Missouri; Chris (Lisa) Peterson of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Andrew (Greta) Peterson of Seattle, Washington; Craig (Lynette) Stewart of Gilbert, Arizona; Nicole Stewart of Galesburg, Illinois; eleven great-grandchildren: Logan Peterson, Alyssa Peterson, Alexander Peterson, John K. Brown, Noah Brown, Ethan Brown, Kora Wellborn, Clayton Wellborn, Liam Sivanich, Cameron Stewart, Christopher Stewart; one sister Ila Mae Howard of Roseburg, Oregon; and nephews & nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bert, one brother and three sisters. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Peg Ellingson officiating. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril, Iowa. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Donnellson Public Library.
