Description	:	Martha L. Flack, 86, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ottumwa, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center due to colon cancer. Services will be 1 pm Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Entombment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 pm on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Martha is survived by her three sons, Don Jr. (fiancee Cinday)of Cedar Rapids; brother, Merle Campbell(Penny)of Temecula, Calif.; and her dog Sadie. Her smile and friendly nature will be missed by dozens of people who often stopped her to say hello and tell how they remember her from years ago, and how they loved to watch her dance. She and Sadie walked many a trail together throughout Cedar Rapids until recently. Martha was born on March 17, 1924, in Ottumwa to parents Frank and Ida(Schaper)Poline. She married Donald Flack in 1943 and shared a life of music for 66 years until he became ill and eventually passed away in March 2010. Her father passed away in 1954, her mother in 1984 and her brother, Francis Poline of Milan, Ill., in 2008. Martha seldom worked outside the home until she joined the staff at the Stouffer Hotel when it first opened and retired after 10 years. Martha and Don traveled with their friends, the Northlands, most of their retirement years from coast to coast. When they were home, they were either exercising or getting ready to meet up with friends at some musical event. Until illness restricted her travel, she never missed listening to her husband Don, son Mike or grandson Mike Jr. sing at various places throughout the city. "The best thing we ever did in 1966 was move to a town that was so full of music," she often said. The family would like to thank those at Heritage and especially the St. Luke's Hospice for their compassionate care.
