Loup City Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Martha Margaret Nelson was born Nov. 10, 1895 at rural Phillipsburg, Kansas to Martin and Anna Schoenweg Wittig. As a young child, she moved with her family to Hays Springs in western Nebraska. In Sheridan County, she received her education at the Schill Rural School. She worked in private homes as a housekeeper. She married Paul Zillinger at the Belmont Lutheran Church near Phillipsburg, Kansas on June 2, 1915. In 1960 she married Rudolph Nelson at Arcadia. They farmed near Comstock. They moved to Loup City in the fall of 1963. After Mr. Nelson's death in January of 1974, she moved to Westside Park and resided there for 11 years. She moved to the Rose Lane Home in January of 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist church in Loup City. Survivors include her children Lena (Mrs. Carl) Pulec of Franklin and Alvin Zillinger of Show Low, Ariz.; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Anna Bergstedt; and three brothers, Herman, Fritz and Carl Wittig.
