She graduated from Victor High School and the University of Iowa School of Nursing. She as a private duty nurse in Des Moines and later made her home with her mother and brother, Walter, in Victor. She served as the assistant librarian at the Victor Public Library for many years. She was a member of the Victor Baptist Church, the Baptist Women's Missionary Society, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and the Federal Women's Club at Victor. She died January 7, 1988. Source: The Pioneer Republican 1/1988 Services For Martha Muller were held Services for Martha Muller, 96, a resident of Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home, Victor. The Rev. Randy Battey, Victor Baptist Church officiated. Miss Muller died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1988 at Rose Haven. Organist for the service was Carol (Mrs. Don) Alba, and vocalist was Kathy Bohstedt, both of Marengo. Burial was in the Victor Memorial Cemetery, Victor. Pallbearers were Don Alba, Marengo; Raymond Beran, Edward McAdam and Wilbur Shine, all of Victor; and Dale Risdon and Ernest Shaull, both of Ladora. Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Blomme and Melvin Smith, both of Victor. Martha Muller was born Feb. 17, 1891 at rural Victor, the daughter of Henry and Adelaide Blanken Muller. She attended Hartford school number 3 and graduated from Victor High School in 1910. She then attended Des Moines University and taught in the Victor area rural schools for a time. Later she took nurses' training at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, graduating in 1918. She worked in Des Moines as a private duty nurse and later moved to Victor where she cared for her family. She also served as an assistant librarian for many years at the Victor Public Library. Miss Mueller became a resident of Rose Haven Nursing Home in 1979. She was a member of the Victor Baptist Church and its ladies aid, the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Federated Women's Club of Victor. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Freda Muller, Altoona, and Elizabeth Muller, Victor. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Louis P., John, Harry, Herman, Walter and one who died in infancy, and three sisters, Nellie Zirbes, Anna Bohstedt and Adelaide Folkerts.
