Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Martha "Mattie" (Buick) Paul was born on Sunday; July 18, 1824 in County Antrim, Ireland. She was married to W.J. Paul on Friday; February 20, 1852, who survives. The other children are: Mrs. Richard Parker, Mrs. Thomas McIlrath, of this vicinity. James and John S. Paul of near Laurel; Marshall County, Iowa. Mrs. John E. Clark of Diller; Jefferson County, Nebraska. Mrs. Paul with her family immigrated to the United States in 1866 and lived 5 years in Scott County, Ia. and have been living in the vicinity thirty years, the past 12 years in Gilman, Iowa. The five of her children who survive her were born in Ireland and were baptized by the Reverend Hugh Hamilton, Presbyterian minister of Cullybacky and are member of the Presbyterian Church at Laurel, Iowa and their parents have been member of the Congregational Church of Gilman a number of years. Mrs. Paul was a woman of high character. Possessed of a tender heart and giving nature at all times had the welfare of her husband, family and friends uppermost in her mind. All who knew her mourn an irreparable loss, but all rejoice in the noble womanhood which for many years has been associated with them in her person. She was ever for the right and never said aught against her fellow beings. A truly good woman, an invaluable blessing to mankind has gone to her reward, which her friends trust will be life eternal. Martha "Mattie" (Buick) Paul, age: 80, who had been many years an invalid and critically ill several weeks, passed away on Monday morning January 2, 1905. The funeral, which was largely attended, was held on Wednesday forenoon, services being conducted at the Congregational Church at 11 O'clock by the Pastor, the Reverend George R. Chambers. Interment was at the Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman; Marshall County, Iowa.
