Martha was born in Aghadowey, near Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Martha is listed on the passenger ship as Martha McCrellis but records indicate that she married Hugh Morrison before immigrating to the American Colonies. Sons David (b. abt 1722)and Robert (b. abt 1726) were born in Ireland. It is possible, however, that Robert could have been born in Londonderry, New Hampshire, where son John was born. McClellan, Early Settlers of Colrain, Massachusetts (1885), Martha is buried in the old burial grounds, which is thought to be Chandler Hill Cemetery. McClellan states that there is a nameless grave next to hers, just to the north and that it is no doubt the last resting place of Capt. Hugh Morrison. It is not known when the gravestone at North River Cemetery, 1.3 miles away, was placed. It commemorates Hugh and Martha Morrison, all of their children and the children of their son John Morrison and his wife, Ann Thompson. John and Ann are buried at Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury, Washington County, New York with several of their other family members.
