Read More	Obituary for Martha Mildred Whitaker Published 23 June 1932 in the Lineville Tribune (Lineville, Iowa) Martha Mildred Whitaker, daughter of William and Jane Whitaker, was born in Rockford, Surry County, North Carolina on April 18, 1840. While yet a child, she moved with her parents to Spencer, Owen County, Indiana. Here at the age of 16 years she was united in marriage to Dr. P.E. Mullinnix. In 1857, as a young pioneer she came west with her husband in a prairie schooner, facing bravely the hardships and rugged life of the adventurer, to become an early settler in Southern Iowa, making their new home in Pleasanton, in Decatur County. To this union, three children were born: W.O. Mullinnix of Lineville, Mrs. Hattie Wasson, who died August 14, 1927, and Rose, who died in infancy. Dr. Mullinnix died April 6, 1866. She was united in marriage to G. W. Dickson, April 29, 1872. They made their home in Lineville, where Mr. Dickson engaged in the hardware business for over 40 years. To this union, two children were born: Mary Blanche and George Clair. She was raised in a Baptist home, but was received into the Methodist church after coming to Iowa, but far more important than creeds was her own personal faith and trust in her Heavenly Father. She passed away on June 14, 1932 at the age of 92 years, 1 month, and 27 days, leaving her three children: W.O. Mullinnix of Lineville, and Clair Dickson of Appleton City, Mo. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Also she leaves behind a host of friends and neighbors, who are saddened by the loss of a sincere friend. Their common testimony to Mrs. Dickson was that to know her was to love her. That she was a wonderful neighbor, an excellent friend, and an unbiased counsellor.
