NOBLE,in Davis City, August 1, 1898. The deceased had been troubled with heart trouble for several years, and a violent attack of the same caused her death. She was born in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, November 18, 1817. At the age of 26 years, she married JONES ELLIS in Philadelphia County, and continued to reside there for several years. NOBLE,in Davis City, August 1, 1898. The deceased had been troubled with heart trouble for several years, and a violent attack of the same caused her death. She was born in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, November 18, 1817. At the age of 26 years, she married JONES ELLIS in Philadelphia County, and continued to reside there for several years. In 1855, the family moved to Indiana, where they lived until 1861 when they moved to Mercer County, which is where the husband died in 1881. Deceased was the mother of four children-- REBECCA ELLIS, a daughter, died in Indiana at the age of 16; a son, W.P. ELLIS, lives in Nebraska; the other children, A.E. ELLIS and MRS. M.E. NOBLE, reside in Decatur County. MRS. ELLIS came to Iowa in 1882, and lived with her children here until called to join her loved ones gone before. She had lived a consistent Christian life, having been reared in the Quaker Church. She united with the Methodist Church when 16 years of age, and continued in the church during her life. She was buried in the Leon Cemetery August 2, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. James A. McKay of Davis City. ====== Notes: Jones and Martha Ellis can be found in the 1850 census in Moreland Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. 3 of the 4 children mentioned in the obituary are with them: Rebecca (5), William (3), Mary Emma (2). Montgomery was formed from Philadelphia County in 1813. "John" and Martha Ellis can be found in the 1860 census in Salt Creek Township, Franklin County, Indiana with all 4 of the children listed in this obituary: Rebecca (15), William (13), William (10), Algernon (2). Jones Ellis can be found in the 1865 Illinois State Census in Mercer County, Illinois. Jones and Martha Ellis can be found in the 1870 census in New Boston Township, Mercer County, Illinois, with William, Mary E, and Algernon still at home. In the 1880 census, by searching for "Ellis Jones" (it's a transcriber/indexer error) on ancestry.com, Jones and Martha Ellis can be found again in New Boston Township, Mercer County, Illinois, with Algernon still at home. Mary Emma had married Van A. Noble in Mercer County in 1871. Other records suggest that Jones Ellis died in 1880 in Mercer County rather than 1881 (as this obituary suggests).
