A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Daniel and Sally Louise Betsill Starnes and the widow of Marshall Lanford. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was a devoted Sunday school teacher for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Anne L. McSwain of Lawndale, NC; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Terry Lanford; three brothers and three sisters. ... Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family is gathering at respected homes.
