Funeral services for Martha Starkey will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Jason Boyd of Faith Bible Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday an hour prior to the service. Martha Ruth Duffield Starkey was born October 31, 1934, at Greene, the daughter of Loran and Kathryn (Rand) Duffield. She attended from Allison High School and graduated North Iowa Area Community College. On October 26, 1956, she was united in marriage to James Starkey at Canton, South Dakota. In 1956 they moved to Charles City. Martha was a registered nurse who worked for ten years at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City and for 40 years at the various Chautauqua Guest Homes in Charles City. She was a member of Faith Bible Chapel, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Women's Bowling League and was active in the YMCA. Martha will always be remembered as a very comforting care giver who gave her all to those in need. Family was always very important to Martha and she took every opportunity to share her life with them. Living family members include four children, Patricia Starkey, James "J.D." (Jody) Starkey, Ronny (Donna) Starkey and Sandra (Aaron) Aird all of Charles City, 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother, James (Jean) Duffield of Charles City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on February 15, 2001; a brother, Don Duffield; and a sister, Lorraine Sessler.
