Description	:	Martha Kelsey, daughter of Cyrus and Eady Kelsey, was born July 18, 1839 in Coshocton County, Ohio, where she lived until grown. With her parents she moved to Holmes County, Ohio. here she was united in marriage with Jacob Manchester, September 30, 1871, and soon moved with her husband to Decatur County, Iowa, living on the old home place until 3 years ago. Read More	Martha Kelsey, daughter of Cyrus and Eady Kelsey, was born July 18, 1839 in Coshocton County, Ohio, where she lived until grown. With her parents she moved to Holmes County, Ohio. here she was united in marriage with Jacob Manchester, September 30, 1871, and soon moved with her husband to Decatur County, Iowa, living on the old home place until 3 years ago. To this union were born three children, Sylvester, Dillon and Milton, all of Decatur County, Iowa and all were present with their mother to the last. Her husband Jacob, fell asleep, January 31. 1913. She also raised Matilda Manchester, daughter of her husband, Jacob, and to whom she was bound by the ties of closest affection. She became a member of the Baptist Church while a young woman, having been raised in a Godly home. Later she became identified with the Christian Church to which her husband belonged. However she held to her Baptist faith to the end. She lived a quiet life of simple faith and seldom caring to leave home, where she ministered to her loved ones to the full measure of devotion. She fell seriously ill the evening of December 4, 1917 and steadily failed until the end Friday, January 4, 1918, aged 73 years, 7 months and 17 days. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, three sons, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, plus other relatives and friends who deeply mourn her passing. The funeral services were conducted from the Brethren church at 2:30 on Sunday. Interment was in the Manchester Cemetery, south of Leon, in sight of the home where she spent a long life. Note: Martha was the third wife of Jacob Manchester Her stepdaughter Matilda Manchester married Benton Latta and became the mother of 15 children Sons Dillon and Milton buried in the Leon, Iowa Cemetery, Decatur County, Iowa
