Description	:	Died – At her home in this city April 3, 1900, Mrs. Martha Black, aged eighty one years and six months. Martha Stewart was born in Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, October 2, 1818, and with her parents move to Ohio in 1838. On December 23, 1841 she was united in marriage to John Black. In 1855 she, with her husband, moved to Iowa County, Wisconsin. Martha Stewart was born in Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, October 2, 1818, and with her parents move to Ohio in 1838. On December 23, 1841 she was united in marriage to John Black. In 1855 she, with her husband, moved to Iowa County, Wisconsin. During their residence here their eldest daughter Jane, was united in marriage to Jake Backer, who was then one of the pioneers of Burt County, Nebraska. Mr. Baker brought his bride to his western home and in 1866 Father and Mother Black followed. The resided on a farm near Newton until 1880, when they sold and moved to Tekamah, residing where the Peter Hoffman residence now stands. After two years residence there they removed to the divide where they broke out the farm which remained Mrs. Black's property to the time of her death. Mr. Black died in Tekamah October 5, 1891, and Mrs. Black has resided here continuously ever since in a cottage which she rented soon after his death. Four children remain to mourn the loss of their mother, Samuel Black, of Norden, Nebr., Mrs. Jane Baker and Mrs. Saxton of Tekamah; and Mrs. Nettleton of Wayne County. The funeral services will be held from the Lutheran church, of which she was a member, today, conducted by Rev. Kuhns of Omaha. Mrs. Black was a kind woman and a loving mother and her departure leaves sorrow in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family has the sympathy of many friends.
