McKINNON, following a long and trying illness which she bore with wonderful patience and endurance. Read More	MARTHA MCKINNON Brule, Oct. 22 - A wide circle of friends heard with deep sorrow news of the passing Friday evening, Oct. 11th at the home of her daughter Mrs. Victor STEVENSON, Brule of Mrs. Martha McKINNON, widow of the late John W. McKINNON, following a long and trying illness which she bore with wonderful patience and endurance. Stricken about two years ago she received skilled medical attention and loving care but without avail. During her last illness she received every care from her daughter, Mrs. STEVENSON (Annie) with whom she resided who was her constant companion. Deceased was the former Miss Martha TERRY of New Annan and was 86 years of age and has resided in Brule since her marriage about 65 years ago. She was a woman of fine christian character and an active worker in the church in her prime. A valued member of Brule W.M.S. Two years ago her son Alexander passed away suddenly. This to Mrs. McKINNON came as a great shock, which was further intensified by the passing of a much loved grandson, Lloyd STEVENSON who passed away in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, last June. In the immediate family there survive three sons James at Clandonald, Alberta who visited the old home three years ago, Jack and Frank at Brule, and six daughters, Mrs. Catherine STERLING of New York, Mrs. Jennie TATTRIE, Londonderry, Mrs. Minnie JOLLIMORE, Tatamagouche, Mrs. Jas. B. TURNER, Eliot, Me., Mrs. Victor STEVENSON, Brule, and Mrs. Roy CARTER, Londonderry Sta. Two daughters, Mrs. Minnie JILLIMORE and Mrs. Roy CARTER who were on a motor trip through western Canada and U.S.A. On hearing of their mother's serious illness hastened home but arrived too late to be with her at her passing. A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. All the party were present at funeral except James at distant Alberta and Mrs. J.B. TURNER (Carrie) who was unable to be present on account of illness. A short service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Victor STEVENSON was conducted by her pastor Rev. Mr. BYRON of River John on Sunday afternoon Oct. 13. The cortege left the house at 12.35. Officiating as pall bearers were Messrs. Ben, George, Elsworth and Dave LANGILLE of Tatamagouche, and followed by relatives and friends preceded to Brule church where a large crowd of sympathizing friends had assembled. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. BRYAN, River John assisted by REV. G.E. WIDDEN of Tatamagouche. Members of Brule church choir led in the singing of old favorites of the deceased. There was a profusion of beautiful floral offerings from family and friends, showing in a mute way the respect for the departed. Following the service, the long funeral cortege wended its way to Lockerby Cemetery, Tatamagouche.
