Description	:	GYPSUM — Marthane L. Thiel, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. Mr. Thiel was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Salina, the son of Ernest E. and Elsie M. (Schwartz) Thiel. He was a third-generation farmer and stockman southeast of Gypsum his entire life and had received honors from Farm Bureau for his farm being a "Century Farm." Mr. Thiel was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Salina, the son of Ernest E. and Elsie M. (Schwartz) Thiel. He was a third-generation farmer and stockman southeast of Gypsum his entire life and had received honors from Farm Bureau for his farm being a "Century Farm." He was a lifetime member of the Gypsum community and Temple Church. His dry wit and ready smile will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Thiel, in 1970. He is survived by his mother, Elsie Thiel, of Gypsum; three brothers, Thurston and wife Carolyn Thiel, of Gypsum, Duane and wife Judy Thiel, of Lindsborg, and Russell and RaeAnn Thiel, of Andover; six nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Temple Church, southeast of Gypsum, with the Rev. Dennis Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401. Memorials are suggested to the church. Memorials are suggested to the church.
