Description	:	Martin Anderson, aged 68, who had been receiving care at the Hawarden hospital for the past year and a half, died about 2 o'clock Tuesday morning. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Gronseth, pastor of the Lutheran church at Hudson, and interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery. Martin Anderson was born in Winneshiek county, Iowa, near Decorah, in February, 1862. When only four or five months of age he was taken by his parents on their removal to Jackson county, Minn., but they were frightened away that same year by the Indian uprising and massacre at New Ulm and returned to eastern Iowa where his boyhood was spent. Later he lived in southern Iowa and in 1895 homesteaded near Wagner, S.D., where he lived for a number of years, after which he roamed through various parts of the west. He never married. About four years ago he suffered a breakdown in health and has since been looked after by his brother, O.A. Anderson of Hudson, who at different times placed him in hospitals in Sioux Falls and Sioux City and for the past year and a half he has been at the Hawarden hospital. Besides his brother, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Julius Hartwig of Milwaukee, Wis., who is here at present on a visit. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 6/19/1930
