"Marty" Chapman, 65, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, 3400 E. 16th St. He died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Dodge. He grew up in Linwood and North Bend and attended North Bend High School. He drove a truck all his life, beginning March 1, 1955. He was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Dodge. He grew up in Linwood and North Bend and attended North Bend High School. He drove a truck all his life, beginning March 1, 1955. He drove for Johnny Wisneski of Dodge, Redimix in Lincoln, Kruger Feed & Seed of North Bend and for Central States of Fremont. He owned and operated his own semi-truck and he leased to Dahlsten Truck Line of Clay Center from 1971 to present. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 7, 1961, to Sept. 6, 1963, and was stationed in Germany. He married Catherine "Cathy" Bauer on Aug. 21, 1965, in Ewing. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, Knights of Columbus Council 1497 of Fremont and Father Leo Raus Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was named Knight of the Year by Council 1497 this past December. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8223 of North Bend, American Legion Post 20 of Fremont, Fremont Honor Guard, Amvets Post 20 of North Bend and Fraternal Order of Eagles 200 of Fremont. Survivors include: his wife, Cathy; four daughters, Michele (Mrs. Dennis) Anderson of Omaha, Janet Chapman of Fremont, Debra (Mrs. Steve) Vonderfecht of Cameron, Mo., and Monica (Mrs. Marty) Pfannes of Portage, Mich.; his mother-in-law, Rose Bauer of Ewing; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Bauer of Lincoln, Mary Ann and Douglas Shrader of Hanover Park, Ill., and Jerome and Deborah Bauer of Ewing; and three grandchildren, Caitlin and Carter Anderson of Omaha and Madelyn Vonderfecht of Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard E. "Carey" and Margaret (Gaughen) Chapman; and a brother, Denny Chapman. The Revs. Owen Korte and Andrew Meister will officiate Friday's service. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the church, led by the Knights of Columbus, and open to the public. Visitation will be noon to 4:30 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and 6:30-7:30 p.m. today at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fremont Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Robert Moser, Stanly Vyhlidal, Ron Merryweather, Maurice Flynn, Dale Miller, Gene Gettman, Ken Thomson and Tom Chapman.
