PVT. MARTIN McMILLEN'S FUNERAL HELD IN WILMORE Funeral services for Martin McMillen, who died on September 16 in an army camp hospital at Drew Field, Tampa, Fla., were held in the Christian church in Wilmore, Kans. Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 1943. The service was in charge of the pastor , D. B. Bennett of Pratt, and burial was in the Wilmore Cemetery. The Coldwater American Legion Post furnished the colors and color guard and had charge of the service at the grave. Taps were sounded by the Post Bugler, Ernest Miller. Martin R. McMillen was the son of Felix M. and Mrs. Martha E. McMillen and was born on February 24, 1904, in a farm near Wilmore, Kans., where he spent his entire life until he was called into the service in November, 1942, where he remained until his death. At the time of his death he was 39 years, 6 months and 22 days of age. He was loyal to his country, and did all in his power to serve it well. Martin joined the Christian church in early life and was always faithful to his teachings. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, five sisters and one half sister. His father died October 23, 1927. The survivors are his mother, Mrs. Martha E. McMillen of Wilmore, his sisters, Mrs. Louisa Kennedy of Wilmore, Mrs. Mary Gill of Merced, Calif., Mrs. Clarice Fry of Wilmore, Mrs. Alice Atteberry and Mrs. Flossie Trummel of Coldwater, and Hazel Hopkins of Larned.
