Funeral services are being held Wednesday afternoon, May 02, from St' Paul's Lutheran Church in Jave at 2 p.m., with Reverend L A Westenberger officiating. A short service will be held at the family home at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery. Martin C Fiedler was born in Krein, South Russia, on January 23, 1874, and had reached the age of 71 years and three months. In 1876 he came to America with his parents Jacob and Helena Fiedler. The family settled in Yankton County, near Mission Hill, South Dakota. On February 07, 1905, he was united in marriage with Marie Pleinis of Java. They lived on a farm near Mission Hill until 1917 when they purchased the Pleinis homestead, five miles north of Java, where they resided until October 1939 when they purchased a home in Java and moved in that fall. The deceased had been a devoted husband and father and a faithful member of the Lutheran church for many years. He will be sadly missed by his family and their large circle of friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife, Marie; five sons, Herman of Java, Carl, who teaches at Kaylor, South Dakota, Arthur and Harold, residing on farms north of Java, and T/Sgt Gerhardt, who is stationed with the Army Medical Corps in a hospital in Belgium; two daughters, Mrs. Jake Nehlich, of north of Java, and Miss Eileen, who teaches in Hosmer; six grandchildren and two brothers, John of Yankton and Henry of Westport.
