Martin Hoffman was born on June 9, 1925, at Tea, SD, the son of John and Edine (Camp) Hoffman. He grew up and attended school in Lennox, SD. Read More	Martin Hoffman, 92, Sioux Falls, died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, SD. Martin Hoffman was born on June 9, 1925, at Tea, SD, the son of John and Edine (Camp) Hoffman. He grew up and attended school in Lennox, SD. On March 29, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mary Van Hunnick at Canton, SD. The couple lived south of Canton and then south of Lennox before moving to Sioux Falls in 1946. Martin worked as a cement contractor and also constructed a total of five new homes, including the one he currently lived in. Mary died on October 16, 2003. In later years, Martin enjoyed spending time with special friend, Betty Beeners and her family. Martin was an active member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. He enjoyed woodworking and home remodeling. Some of his more creative projects included a large wooden boat and homemade camper. He also built hope chests and toys for his grandchildren. Other hobbies were still and video photography and several trips to Canada to fish. Martin maintained his sense of humor right to the end of his life. He took joy in simple pleasures of being in his own home and observing the traffic and activities around his house. Spending time with his family was the most important aspect of his life. Martin was a devoted husband and deeply missed Mary after her death. Besides his wife Mary, Martin was also preceded in death by one son, Robert on May 16, 2016; one granddaughter, Sandy Foster in 1989 and two sisters: Theresa Groen-Winkel and Evelyn Hoffman and special friend, Betty Beeners. Grateful for having shared his life are his three daughters: Rose (Douglas) Foster, Sioux Falls, Linda (Tom) Shumaker, Humboldt and Nancy (Dwayne) Hoeck, Garretson; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. Memorial services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Apr. 9 at Memorial Lutheran Church, 5000 S Western Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will follow in the Lennox Cemetery.
