Jacqueline Sharon Dahlquist was born on February 3, 1942, to Allan and Ellen (Harvala) Dahlquist at Chicago, Illinois. She was raised and attended school in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She graduated in 1960. She attended Detroit Lakes Vocational School in 1965. She worked in Minneapolis as a waitress and at Honeywell, Inc. until her marriage. She is the youngest of four, with two brothers and one sister. Martin and Jackie were united in marriage on November 13, 1971 at the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. The Henkes have four children. Denise was born December 5, 1962 at Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was confirmed at Hannover, and attended school in Minnesota, Hannover, and Center, where she graduated in 1981. She worked in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota shortly after graduation. She is now employed at Mandan. Martin, Jr. was born August 15, 1972; Stephanie was born September 22, 1975; and Mark was born March 1. 1979. They were all born at Bismarck, and attend school in Center. The Henkes are all members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hannover. MEMORIES: Martin remembers one winter the roads were blocked; Glenn Reiner and he drove a team and sled to school and pulled a truck out of the snow and the man gave each of them a dime. The summer of 1936 was so hot they would go down in a dugout or smoke house over noon hour to get out of the heat. We could see the grasshoppers moving north in the sky.
