Wiederin, the son of Alois and Anna (Baumhover) Wiederin, was born Aug. 22, 1932, at Carroll. He died March 6, 1998, at his home west of Churdan. Martin moved with his family to Churdan in 1937 and attended Churdan High School, where he graduated in 1950. Prior to entering the service he worked for various farmers in the Churdan area. He entered the United States Army in November of 1952 and served as a corporal in Okinawa. He received his discharge in October of 1954. After the service, Martin returned to Churdan where he worked for Dale Barnes with his corn shelling service and farm operations from 1954 to 1961. During the winter months he worked on the Milwaukee Railroad and helped Earl Hoyle with his feed grinding service. On Oct. 30, 1948, Martin Wiederin was united in marriage to Jeanne Toliver at the Baptist Church in Fort Dodge. To this union were born three children. The couple has farmed their present farm west of Churdan since 1961. Martin was an active member of First Baptist Church in Churdan and had held most of the church offices. He was a member of Edward English American Legion Post 198 of Churdan and had served as sergeant-at-arms since 1955. He was also a member of the Churdan Lions Club, ASCS county committee, Churdan elevator board, Pork Producers board and Farm Bureau board, and was a 4-H leader for many years. Survivors include his wife; one son, two daughters, his grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Edward at 18 months and Joseph in infancy; two sisters, Eileen in infancy and Lois Lynch in 1989; and two brothers-in-law, Cletus Boes and Fred Schachtner.
