Description	:	Martin was born to John and Abigail (Abba) Drummond in Ohio in 1840. One source states he was born in Scotland, but that is almost certainly incorrect. Martin's parents seem to have begun their life together in New York with the addition of several little Drummonds. By 1840 they were in Ohio for Martin's birth. The family was in Michigan for the 1850 census, where Martin's father worked as a carpenter. By 1860 the Drummonds were living in Van Buren County, Iowa, and seem to have remained there as John continued employment as a carpenter. Martin met and married Miss Mary... By 1860 the Drummonds were living in Van Buren County, Iowa, and seem to have remained there as John continued employment as a carpenter. Martin met and married Miss Mary Ann Clemens in Iowa,(probably in the early 1870s) where they farmed and Martin carried on his father's trade as a carpenter. The couple had two children, Della M. and Guy Drummond. Martin and Mary Ann died within a year of each other, at ages 65 and 59, respectively.
