Description	:	Occupation Farmer Father Henry D. Gander Mother Mary Coffman RESIDENCES: A resident of Leaksville District #2 in 1860, Page Co., Va. RECORD OF SERVICE: Enlisted 7/22/1861 as 2nd sergeant Co. I, 97th Virginia Militia. Enlisted again? in the 97th on 11/4/1861. Discharged 3/15/1862 and transferred to the Dixie Artillery. Records contradict, however, and show that he enlisted in the Dixie Artillery on 6/21/1861. Enlisted 1/9/1863 in Co. C, 39th Battalion Virginia Cavalry. 3rd corporal.
