Description	:	Martissa was born in the Maine Twp of Linn County, eastern Iowa to John Haywood East (said to be from North Carolina) and Mary Ann Storm (Strum) of German descent from Indiana. Sometime around 1860, her parents moved the family of three boys and six girls to Monona County in western Iowa (the oldest son Wiley fell to disease, most likely cholera, during the Civil War in Arkansas). She lost her father in 1869. Martissa married Adelbert (John) Norton (from Maine) on May 28 1872 in Castana, Monona County [Recorded in Book 1, Page 45] and set up... She lost her father in 1869. Martissa married Adelbert (John) Norton (from Maine) on May 28 1872 in Castana, Monona County [Recorded in Book 1, Page 45] and set up house in Monona County. They later moved to Woodbury County, then around 1900 they moved to Geddes, South Dakota with their two married children (Lloyd and Mary).
