Read More	Services Held Sunday For Marva Saddoris Marva Jean, affectionately known to the entire Galbraith community as "Toots", daughter of Lawrence Saddoris and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Saddoris and Mrs. Emma Henrich was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1937 at Emmetsburg, Iowa. The beautiful years of infancy and childhood passed all too swiftly and on Thursday November 29th, 1945 she joined the innumerable company of little children who pass through the pearly gates to enter the spiritual companionship of Jesus, the friend of the little children. After a brief residence at Emmetsburg, on February 1939 the family moved to the Galbraith Neighborhood and established themselves on a farm one and one half miles east of the church. This has been their residence since that time. The family at once entered into the active duties of membership at Galbraith and on April 9, 1939 Marva Jean was baptized and received into preparatory membership of the church by the pastor, the Reverend W. A. Wilkinson. "Toot's" at once entered and maintained an exceptional record of attendance and participation in the Sunday School and its festival occasions. No program at Easter, Christmas or Children's Day was complete without at enthusiastic acceptance of assignments. She not merely memorized the words of her several parts but made the congregation conscious that she personally comprehended the meaning of them. She constantly reflected the atmosphere of both home and church training in spiritual things to a remarkable degree. Dolls were not mere toys to her but were the real children of her own juvenile household. A full score or more had been accumulated and all were preserved. Each born some name which her fancy inspired. Wardrobes were appropriately selected. The entire outfitting was an example of earnestness and seriousness. Her work with crayon and pencil attracted great admiration. It was as though a great artist had fallen asleep at an unfinished canvas. Her work and responsive attitude were an inspiration to her teachers. She was a pupil in whom they would take delight in assisting at program preparation. Ten days ago weather conditions were such as to make it necessary to keep her at home. Cold symptoms developed and the doctor was called. He immediately recommended hospitalization. She was taken to the hospital at Carroll where doctors nurses and Sisters gave her the utmost care. An operation failed to bring recovery and at 6:50 p. m. Thursday, November 29th, she passed to the great beyond. She left a beautiful smile and testimony to shine through the tears at her bedside as pearls of great price to be treasured, kept and pondered by her beloved parents and friends. Services were held at the home at 1:30 and at Galbraith Church at 2:30 Sunday, December 2, 1945 and were conducted by her pastor, the Reverend Nelson F. Grote, who preached the sermon from the Text: Matthew 18:3 "Except ye become little children ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." The Rev. Karl W. G. Hiller, former pastor assisted in the services. Music was furnished y a quartette of young ladies consisting of the Misses Bonnie and Bernice Corderman, Crystal Waskom and Hope Smith with Mrs. Mable Waskom as accompanist. Selections were: In the Garden and Jewells. Pall Bearers were the Misses Helen and Merna Just, Ruth Cole, Jean and Jo Pollen, Dorothy Wise. Arrangements were in charge of Farber and Otteman of Sac City. Interment was in the Newell cemetery. Published in The Newell Mirror; Newell, Iowa; Thursday, December 6, 1945
