He was born in Yuma County on December 17, 1922 to Grace (Fair) and Claude Burchett. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Holyoke. Marven went to public school at Phillips County schools. Burchett died Thursday, June 19, 2003 due to complications from cancer. He was 80. He was born in Yuma County on December 17, 1922 to Grace (Fair) and Claude Burchett. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Holyoke. Marven went to public school at Phillips County schools. After high school Marven became an accomplished musician on the drums and played professionally. He later moved to Denver where he played in orchestras and worked for Wells Music Co. In December of 1942 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. There he also played for the Marine Corps Band. During his tour he served in many historic battle locations in the Japan and Pacific Island theaters. After the Marines, he resumed playing music and played along with such notables as Buddy Rich and Tommy Dorsey and many others. Later he met Helen Bieganak and was married and had two children. Marven began employ with the Department of Defense at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver where he worked for 35 years. Marven later married Florence (Bunnie) Keller in 1989. Marven enjoyed several interests with his family including horsemanship, fishing, camping and hunting. He holds a Boone and Crocket Record Black Bear. Marven lived until his death in the home he built on the land that he purchased from his mother. Marven had four brothers and four sisters. He is preceded in death by Wilbur E. Burchett (1910-1993), Doyle E. Burchett (1926-1953) and Leona Anderson (1911-1974). He is survived by daughter Shari L. Burchett Kidgell (location unknown); son Randy A. Burchett and his companion Angie Liddell of Telluride; grandchildren Hunter and Halli Burchett; great grandchild Jade Burchett; siblings Jeanett Denison of Denver, Florence Hayes of Tennessee, Delores Sawyer of Arizona, Mack E. Burchett of Greeley and Lyle D. Burchett of New Mexico; and stepson David Keller. A funeral service was held Wednesday, June 25 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Holyoke with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Interment was made in Holyoke Memorial Park.
