Description	:	RANDOLPH - Marvern L. Jones, 59, Randolph, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Services will be at St. Frances Catholic Church at Randolph at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with military rites by VFW Alvin Kessler Post 5545 and American Legion Post 113. Jones, 59, Randolph, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 27, 1946, at Norfolk, the son of Lavern and LeoNina (Buss) Jones. He attended Wayne County District 76 near Carroll, graduated from eighth grade of a Wayne County rural district near Sholes, graduated from Randolph High School in 1964 and graduated with an associates degree from Norfolk Junior College in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War from February 1967 to November 1970, serving one year in Vietnam from February 1968 to February 1969. He married Cinda R. Caster on Aug. 23, 1969, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph. He was automotive manager at Kmart in Omaha, Aberdeen, S.D., and Norfolk until 1982 when he purchased Monk's Bar in Randolph, operating it until 1992. In 1992, he was employed as greenskeeper at Randolph Community Golf Course. Following a bout with cancer, he worked part time at Jerry's Hilltop in Randolph until October 2001, retiring due to illness. Marvern was a life member of Alvin Kessler VFW Post 5545 of Randolph and 10-year member of the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department. He loved being with his family and friends and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Cinda Jones of Randolph; children, Tige and Angela Jones of Adel, Iowa, Jennifer and Bob Sliva of Omaha, Brock and Kate Jones of Omaha; grandchildren, Amanda, Shannan, Elijah Jones of Adel, Iowa, and Drew Sliva of Omaha; one brother, Rodney and Linda Jones of Omaha; one sister, LaRuth and Gordon Kumm of Randolph; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barry and Carol Caster of Omaha, Rick and Vickie Ryan of Sioux Center, Iowa, Gary and Denise Scrutchfield of Urbandale, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Jerdine and Delmar Luebe of Pierce, Karen and Don Hogendorn of Pierce, Randall Buss of Pierce, Arlene Buss of Huron, S.D.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Garrett Jones; uncle, Chet Buss; and aunt, Pat Buss. The Rev. Ron Battiato will officiate. Music will be by guitarist and cantors George Bradley and Terri Haselhorst. Pallbearers will be Brad Albers, Doug Albers, Joe Groen, Gary Dominisse, Sam Reineke and Jack Sauser. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews, Jeff Jones, Angela Caster, Melanie Caster, Megan Caster, Ashley Kumm, Kelly Buchanan, Aric Ryan, Crystal Ryan, Toni Ryan, Bridget Ryan, Shawn Scrutchfield and David Scrutchfield.
