"Marve" Schute, 82, 408 Second St. N.E., Farley, died after a long illness at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where the Farley Volunteer Firemen will meet at 7 p.m., the Farley American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7:15 p.m. and there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Marvin was a meat cutter and meat department manager at the former A & P store in Dubuque, until his retirement in 1980. He was born on Dec. 14, 1915, in Guttenberg, son of Herman and Louise (Kreisler) Schute. He married Melrose M. Beresford on Aug. 8, 1953, in Eagle River, Wis. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Guttenberg. He was past president of the Farley Commercial Club; first president of the Farley Park board; former Boy Scout leader; junior legion baseball coach and a retired volunteer fireman of the Farley Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former member of the American Bowling Congress and Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union. He also was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and its altar and rosary society. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, working with youngsters and doing woodworking projects. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder to the Iowa Hawkeyes football games. Surviving are his wife, Melrose Schute, of Farley; a son, Michael Schute, of Farley; a daughter, Debra (David) Fondell, of Dubuque; and a brother, Lavern Schute, of Washougal, Wash. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Arnold, Urban, Delbert, Raymond and Dorothy Schute, Bernice Keller, Norma Kluesner and Delores Padden. A Marvin A. Schute Memorial Fund has been established.
