Marvin was born Jan. 17, 1912, in Wyoming, Iowa, to Christian and Alma Carstens Benischek. He married Ada Kleinschmidt on Sept. 20, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cudahy, Wis. They have celebrated 51 happy years together. He worked at Wilson and Co. for the USDA as a food inspector and later as an accountant for 30 years, retiring in 1968. Marvin and Ada also had an income tax service in Cedar Rapids for many years, until illness took over and he had to cease business. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cudahy, Wis., and AFGE Lodge 311. Marvin was well-known by all. He could talk over in confidence their income tax problems. He was well-versed on all subjects and could be trusted to consider their problems from all angles, as if they were his own. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched, which were many over the years. He was dearly loved and will by missed by them, friends and family. One of Marvin's favorite poems was "When I Cross the Bar." Instead of flowers, memorials may be given in Marvin's name to Mercy Cancer Center, 701 10th St. SE, Cedar Rapids 52403. CR Gazette
