Read More	Marvin Clarke Lemons passed from this life on December 13, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. He fought and struggled only to lose the battle, but he never gave up hope for another day. Marvin was a native Virginian, born in Galax, VA, on May 3, 1937, to a pioneer Virginia family. He grew up in Pulaski and Galax, VA, graduated from East Tennessee State University, where he was a member of the founding chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha. He loved his Bucks, he loved his Pikes, and he loved his days in Johnson City, TN. Professionally, Marvin built his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He found his niche with Bristol Meyers, as he matriculated through the sales force until he became vice president of sales for Bristol Laboratories, the ethical pharmaceutical division of the Bristol Meyers Corporation, headquartered in Syracuse, NY. He retired from this position in 1986, and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach where he and his family lived for the next 26 years. Life has been good to Marvin. He has a loving family: his wife, Betty; children, Laura-Todd Haney (Dale) and Clarke Lemons (Suzanne); and grandson, Scott Haney. He enjoyed and loved his days playing golf at Sawgrass Country Club. His dedication and devotion to the art of playing the game was a life study for him, and his happiest moments were those spent on the course with family and friends. The family wants to thank our loyal friends and caregivers, especially Alex and Rose Matisco, and Alveda Brown, who have stood beside all of us throughout this difficult ordeal. We also want to acknowledge the wonderful doctors and staff at Mayo Clinic, as well as the compassionate care of Community Hospice of NE Florida. All of you have eased the difficulty of an arduous journey, and the family appreciates your caring more than we could ever express. A private service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Interment will take place in Galax, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
