Marvin was baptized into the Christian faith on September 23, 1923 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Vilmar, Iowa by the Rev. Conrad Weltner. At the age of 14, he was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Clarksville, Iowa, by the Rev. S. M. Becker. Marvin graduated from Clarksville High School in 1941. Marvin has been a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville for more than 78 years. He enjoyed singing and through his singing, he attempted to witness to his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He sang in the church choir for over 65 years. Marvin also sang in the Clarksville Community Chorus from the time it began and took part in the Country Roads Show for 25 years. Marvin was a farmer and enjoyed living in the country even after his semi-retirement. Marvin died Sunday, September 25, 2005, at Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara Niehaus; his sister, Ruth Kluiter; two brothers, Vern and Lloyd Niehaus; a brother-in-law, A.J. Kluiter; and a sister-in-law, Helen Niehaus. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Marcene Niehaus, Clarksville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, Randy (Lynn) Niehaus, Clarksville, Iowa, Keith Niehaus, Clarksville, Iowa, Craig Niehaus, Ankeny, Iowa, Myrna (John) Culbertson, Charles City, Iowa, Vivian (Robert) Chestnut, Waverly, Iowa, JoAnn (Larry) Betts, Clarksville, Iowa, and Barbara (Ron) Morris, Bourbonnais, Illinois. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville, Iowa with Rev. David Nelson officiating. Organist was Lois Roose. Vocalist Kim Murray sang "Because He Lives" and "The Cleft". St. John Lutheran Church Choir sang "What Can I Give To Him". Congregational Hymn was "When Peace Like A River." Casketbearers were John Culbertson, Larry Betts, Randy Niehaus, Keith Niehaus, Craig Niehaus and Aaron Betts. Honorary Bearers were Robert Chestnut, David Chestnut, Ron Morris, Matthew Chestnut, Jeremy Betts, Ryan Niehaus and Mark Knapp. Flower Committee was Lucille Swick and LaDonna Wamsley. Interment was in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Iowa. Memorials were directed to St. John Lutheran Church Choir. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, was in charge of arrangements
