Young, 69, of Mellette, SD, died Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Marvin was born to Clarence and Florence (Clifford) Young on December 27, 1933 in Ashton, SD. He graduated from Ashton High School in 1952. He married Barbara Weigold in 1953 and they had three children. Marvin joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and served many overseas and stateside operations. He served for over twenty years, and obtained the rank of Master Sargent. After his discharge, he lived in the Rapid City and Belle Fourche area. He worked for the United States Post Office and Soil Conservation office. Marvin and his son Billy owned and operated Young's Electric in Rapid City performing rural and residential electrical wiring. Marvin also sharpened farm disc blades. Marvin married Helen Oberle on March 1, 2000, in Bullhead City AZ and they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. They lived in Mellette and spent most of the winter months in the southern states. Marvin was member of the American Legion of Mellette and the Disabled Veterans Association. He enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, fishing and star gazing. Marvin is survived by his wife Helen Oberle Young of Mellette, SD; his three children: Billy (Julianne) Young of Rapid City, SD; Allen Young of Rapid City, SD; and Deb Usera of Rapid City, SD; six grandchildren and one great grandson. He is also survived by his mother Florence Braasch of Redfield, SD; one brother Barton (Midge) Young of Ashton, SD; and four step children: Connie (Aubrey) Osborn of Cheyenne, WY; Craig (Darnell) Oberle of Mellette, SD; Randy (Angie) Oberle of Mellette, SD; and Melissa Oberle of Mellette, SD; and seven step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
