Died Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center , Syracuse, Marvin was born in Ashland , NE on May 22, 1922, to Charles G and Lessie (Wollen) Pilfold. Graduating the class of 1940 after high school he went to work for American Telephone & Telegraph from 1941-1942 He served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Sergeant in WW II receiving American Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star and a Purple Heart, upon returning from the service he went to work as a groundman at Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph... Died Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center , Syracuse, Marvin was born in Ashland , NE on May 22, 1922, to Charles G and Lessie (Wollen) Pilfold. Graduating the class of 1940 after high school he went to work for American Telephone & Telegraph from 1941-1942 He served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Sergeant in WW II receiving American Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star and a Purple Heart, upon returning from the service he went to work as a groundman at Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph 1947, he held several positions at LT&T including District Clerk at Hastings before being named Weeping Water's Exchange manager in 1958 a position he held till 1976 when he was promoted to Security Supervisor in Lincoln til his retirement in 1984 Marvin was active in numerous community activities, including Past President and Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Weeping Water Housing Authority, a member of the Nehawka Businessmen's Club. He was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Lodge 1049, and served as Commander of VFW Post 9099. He was also Finance Officer for the American Legion Post 237 and a member of the First Congregational Church. His many hobbies were Hunting, Fishing and Gardening. He enjoy spending time with his Grandchildren and getting to know his Great Grandchildren. Marvin is survived by wife Henrietta (Wade) Pilfold married October 30, 1959 two daughters, Debra Thornton of Grand Island, NE. Jody and husband LeRoy James of North Platte, NE. Five Grandchildren, Mandy Baker, Amy Cauffman, Michael Freeman, Keely Langer and Katie Thornton; Ten Great Grandchildren Cade, Carson, Chloe, Cale, Gracie, Mia, Finley, Megan, Samuel and Ashley He was preceded in death by his: Parents, wife Betty Lou (Jauch) they were married July 22, 1950 she died August 15, 1958, an infant son Steven 1951, Five Sisters Mildred, Margaritte, Hazel, Doris, and Lulu Belle Six Brothers Elias, George, Chester, Clyde, Robert and Harold
