Marvin Lee Anderson was born Aug. 27, 1921, to John and Ellen Anderson at Pembrooke. Read More	Marvin Lee Anderson, 84, of Pierre, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Interment at Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon. Marvin Lee Anderson was born Aug. 27, 1921, to John and Ellen Anderson at Pembrooke. He attended school in the area through the eighth grade and worked on the family farm until he was drafted during World War II. His family included four brothers, Bill, Melvin, Jay and Maurice; and two sisters, Arlean and Elsie. Marvin joined the Army Air Force in July 1942, where he served as a drill sergeant and graduated as an aerial engineer. During his time with the military, he helped test and repair B-24 bombers. Marvin received his honorable discharge from the Army in 1946, with a final rank of corporal. Marvin and his brothers formed a band, playing for dances across the area, with Marvin playing steel guitar. He also played baseball with a team from the Lebanon area. Marvin married Catherine Simon on Aug. 14, 1954, in Lebanon. In 1961, he and his young family moved to Pierre, where he worked for Albertus Electric and Reiger Electric. In 1972, he opened S&A Electric, where he worked until his death. He enjoyed his grandchildren, family and friends, and often reminded his sons that he had forgotten more than they would probably ever know. Marvin is survived by his two sisters, Elsie Ondrecek of Watertown and Arlean Garrison of Murrieta, Calif.; sisters-in-law Mildred of Lebanon and Neola of Gettysburg; two sons, John and his wife Mary of Sioux Falls and Steve and his wife Marla of Pierre; five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Ryan, Joshua and Brianna; Catherine Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and his buddies Taz, Bugs (also known as Gus), and Hazel.
