Visitation for family & friends will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, December 1, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Friends Church with Pastor Len Maselli officiating. Burial will be at Salem East Cemetery. He married Norene Craig July 8, 1962, in Salem, IA. This year they celebrated 55 years of marriage. Marvin worked for the Fairfield Community School District for 35 years. While teaching he coached Jr. High football and track for over 27 years and held various school offices at local and state level. Marvin sponsored Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was past president of Fairfield Kiwanis. Marvin was a member of the Fairfield Friends Church and was an adult Sunday School teacher for many years and was presiding clerk. He loved to be outside. Some of his outside interest were hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, honey bees and gardening. Marvin did woodworking, refinishing furniture and made furniture for family. After he retired he and Norene enjoyed traveling. Marvin would follow pro football, Iowa Hawkeyes and Fairfield Trojans. He also enjoyed doing magic shows and writing poems. Left to share Marvin’s memories are his wife, Norene of Fairfield, IA; 3 sons; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Celestia; one sister, Lola Williamson; and one brother, Carl Septer.
