Description	:	Marvin Olnes Sr., 90 of Albion, NE died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion after suffering a stroke on Thursday, February 5th. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, with Rev. David Frerichs officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #736 of Albion, NE. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE. Marvin was born January 27, 1925, to John and Alma (Thorberg) Olnes on the family farm east of Petersburg. He attended Boone County District #62. He farmed from the age of 14 to 20 before enlisting in the Navy. Following his service, Marvin returned to farm in the South Branch area. He married Betty Carver on June 3, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He and Betty farmed and raised their seven children in the South Branch area. In 1968, the family moved to a farm located a mile south of Albion. Marvin and Betty lived there until they retired and moved to 5th Street in Albion in 1986. In 2008, they moved to the Cottages apartments in Albion. Marvin farmed his entire life and had a great love for the land. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at South Branch until moving to Albion where he was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. He had served as a member of Boone County District #57 School Board, the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center Advisory Board and the Albion Senior Center Board. Marvin was a HAM Radio Operator and a member of the Albion Amateur Radio Club. He also enjoyed attending athletic events and volunteering at the Senior Center. He is survived by his seven children: Marvin (Marcia) Olnes of Yankton, SD; Sally (Clyde) Carlson of Polk; Jim (Becky) Olnes of Albion; Rick Olnes of Albion, Ken Olnes of Albion, Kathy (Bill) Wright of Lincoln; and Paul (Kathleen) Olnes of Omaha. He was grandfather to eight: Marvin (Lisa) Olnes of Yankton, SD; Mary (Klint) Holscher of Cheyenne, WY; Andrew (Julie) Carlson of Battle Creek, NE; Curtis (Lisa) Carlson of Wahoo, NE; Jason (Amy) Olnes of Albion, Shawn (Amber) Olnes of Albion; Tyler Olnes of Petersburg, NE; Andrew Jon Olnes of Omaha. He had ten great-grandchildren. Two brothers Ardell Olnes of Albion, NE and John Olnes of Anchorage, AK, and a sister-in-law, Lavonne (Lowell) Olnes of Petersburg, also survive Marvin. He was preceded in death by wife Betty in 2010; parents John and Alma Olnes, father and mother-in-law Robert and Mildred Carver; brother Lowell Olnes and sister Janis Coulter.
