Description	:	Last Rites For Marvin Pierce, 60 Many friends attended the last rites Thursday morning at the Cylinder Methodist Church for Marvin Leslie Pierce, 60, a story of whose death Oct. 29 in the local hospital was published in Tuesday's Reporter. Mr. Pierce, who operated a trucking service in Cylinder, had been ill for a long time and had been hospitalized on several occasions. Serving as pall bearers were six nephews: Eldon Lee, Wayne Kruse, Ray Fessler, Maurice Moffitt, Larry Sharkey and Gary Gregg. The Rev. Russell Eldridge of Fenton officiated. Mr. Pierce, who operated a trucking service in Cylinder, had been ill for a long time and had been hospitalized on several occasions. Serving as pall bearers were six nephews: Eldon Lee, Wayne Kruse, Ray Fessler, Maurice Moffitt, Larry Sharkey and Gary Gregg. The Rev. Russell Eldridge of Fenton officiated. Mrs. Eldridge sang during the services, with Mrs. Hans Blass as organist. The selections were favorite hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul." Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, with Martins in charge. Born in Lake City, Mr. Pierce was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pierce. He received his education in the schools there and in 1929 he married Leatha Fessler. The couple moved to the Cylinder Community in 1931. Mrs. Pierce died in 1942. In 1954 Mr. Pierce was married to Helen Iverson who survives, along with four children. They are Mrs. Russell Westfall of Estherville, Verle of Little Rock, Ia. and Donnie and LeRoy, both at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Sharkey of Hanley Falls, Minn. and Mrs. Walter Gregg of Lake City. Mr. Pierce had been ill for two years and was a hospital patient for six weeks before his death. He was a patient sufferer and always was hopeful despite his long illness.
