Description	:	Marvin P. Holt, went to be with his Lord on May 29, 2007. He was born in Clear Lake, S.D., to Raymond and Emma Holt on June 12, 1927. He attended a rural school and then transferred to Clear Lake where he graduated as co-valedictorian in 1945. After high school he worked on the family farm for two years before attending Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. He was born in Clear Lake, S.D., to Raymond and Emma Holt on June 12, 1927. He attended a rural school and then transferred to Clear Lake where he graduated as co-valedictorian in 1945. After high school he worked on the family farm for two years before attending Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. In his junior year of college, the Lord called him into the ministry in the Lutheran Church. He married Wanda Severson of Gary, S.D., in 1952. He attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, graduating in 1955. Following an internship in Stanley, N.D., he served parishes in Galata; Moorhead, Minn.; Cook, Minn.; Harlowton; Laurel; and Truth or Consequences, N.M. After retirement he and Wanda continued to be active in Lutheran Marriage Encounter and the AALC denomination. He enjoyed backpacking in the mountains and spending time at the cabin that he and Wanda built near Nye. They enjoyed using the cabin for retreats and entertaining family and friends. Their home was a welcome place for travelers and also served as a foster home for children. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clayton. He is survived by his wife Wanda of Laurel; children, spouses and grandchildren: Ron Holt of Pismo Beach, Calif., Teresa and Dale Wicks (Amy, Paul) of Billings, Barb and Mark Harrington (Matt, Anne, Rebecca) of Billings, Tom Holt and Mary Loven (Anders, Jens) of Northfield, Minn., Yvonne Wenz of Minneapolis, and Dan and Sylvia Holt (Micah, Aaron, James, Riana) of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also surviving are two sisters, Eloise Anderson of LaCrescent, Minn., Lorraine Kremer of Madison, Wis., and a sister-in-law, Shirly Holt of Gary, S.D. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, at First Congregational Church in Laurel. Interment will be in the Laurel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to CareNet of Billings, Lutheran Bible Translators (Finley Fund), New Hope Lutheran Church or charity of choice. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of arrangements.
