Mass of the Christian Burial was Tuesday at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Father Siby Punnoose officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Carroll American Legion. Lector was Sister Caroline Kirsch. Gift bearers were Josh Wiskus, Melissa Wiskus, and JoAnn Cale. Eucharistic Ministers were Norbert and Mary Kirsch, and Victor Kirsch. Mr. Wiskus was born June 8, 1929, at Omaha, Neb. He spent his younger years in the Roselle community and attended Holy Angels School. He then worked as a mechanic at the Riesberg Garage in Halbur and a repair garage in Stanwood. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1951 and served overseas in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in February 1953. On Dec. 11, 1953, he was married to Elsie Marie Schubel in Sioux City. The couple lived in Minneapolis for a short time and then moved to Cushing, where he farmed and was a mechanic. Following his wife's death in 1983 he returned to Carroll and later moved to Guthrie Center. Survivors include his special friend, Jean Ann Schwaderer of Guthrie Center; sons Victor Wiskus and his wife Roseanne of Cushing and Vincent Wiskus and his wife Susan of Cushing; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Norbert Kirsch and his wife Mary of Carroll, Victor Kirsch and his wife Rosemary of Adams, N.Y., Kenneth Kirsch and his wife Myrna of Marshalltown, Larry Kirsch and his wife Donna of Aurora, Colo., Allan Kirsch and his wife Pat of O'Fallon, Mo., and Leonard Kirsch of Mt. Airy, N.C.; and sisters Sister Caroline Kirsch F.S.P.A. of LaCrosse, Wis., JoAnn Cale of Carroll, and Dorie Bruening and her husband Larry of Round Rock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Nick and Mary Ann Kirsch; his wife Elsie Wiskus, in April 1983; and an infant brother, Nicholas Kirsch. Obituary: Morrison County Record (MN) - 1/31/2008
