Description	:	Son of Francis and Valma Johnston. Marvin lived for eight years in Montana and a few years in Southern California before coming to Yreka in 1926. He graduated from Yreka Union High School. It was the depression time and no way to go to college, so Marvin worked at odd jobs. Marvin finally got on a bucket line dredge and worked up to winch man.
