Description	:	Marvion E. Reichert, Sr., 91 of Kearney formerly of Elm Creek, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at Elm Creek Cemetery. Services are entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Marvion Eugene Reichert, of rural Elm Creek and later Kearney passed away on July 28th, 2021 at the age of 91. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and great Grandfather. Marvion was a wealth of knowledge, common sense, optimism, and generosity that will be sorely missed. Marvion was born July 20th, 1930 in Scottsbluff Ne., to Jacob and Elizabeth (Wirth) Reichert. He was the oldest in a family of 8, and a successful farmer/cattleman for most of his life. He served on numerous Boards including Kearney's Park and Rec, in which he was instrumental in the building of the city's Skate Board Park. After meeting at a "1733 Ranch" dance, he and Lois Burkey were united in marriage on February 10th 1952 at the Elm Creek Christian Church. They were married for 68 years until Lois's death in November of 2020. After marriage, Marvion and Lois moved to a farm near Yoder, Wyoming. In 1961 they moved to a farm North of Elm Creek and in 1976 to a farm and new home South of Elm Creek. In 1996 they moved to Kearney, Ne. and have resided there till their passing. No stranger to adversity, Marvion grew up in the Dirty Thirties. He quit school during his 8th grade year to help support his mother, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He was a smart, hard worker, unafraid to take advantage of any opportunity to better his family. He had a keen eye and sharp pencil and was able to buy many farms, improve them and then sell for a profit. There was no such thing as "can't" when Marvion set his mind to it. The only man I knew who could break a pair of CeTee pliers with his grip. Next to Lois and farming, his greatest joy was playing the accordion and polka music. Self-taught since his 20"s his music provide him with many hours of enjoyment. He also loved to watch his granddaughter Hannah (also an accomplished accordionist) at many of her performances. Almost everyone who stopped at their home was entertained with some of Marvion's accordion skills. After his retirement (he never really quit, he just slowed down) he was able to travel with Lois, his brothers, sisters and daughter Deb to Europe and Russia to meet with distant relatives and sight see. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Tina Reichert (Stacia Mason), Debra Reichert Robbins, sons Jerry Reichert, Marvion Jr. (Janet): grandchildren, Haylee (Tom) Baer, Hilary Reichert, and Hubble (Melisa) Reichert, Hannah (Malachi) Washington, Hans Robbins and great grandchildren Nate, Wyatt, Grace McElhinny, Shepard Reichert and Harrison Perchal. Marvion was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, brother Jerry and sisters Darlene, Betty, Jeanie, and infant Geraldine. Marvion, though you are gone, you will not be forgotten.
