Son of John Raymond "Dick" Drake and Fanny Marie Buzzard OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, July 16, 1985 DRAKE Marvyn Leroy Drake was born April 27, 1911 to Fanny Marie Buzzard Drake and John Raymond "Dick" Drake. He lived and received his schooling around Russell and Chariton. He was a truck driver all of his life, hauling logs and coal. During the depression he went to work for Threlkeld's, driving a gasoline transport. In 1945, he and his family moved to Ottumwa. He went to work for Burlington Truck Lines. He worked there until he retired in 1971 He and his wife moved to Forsyth, Missouri, returning to Iowa for summers spent in Munterville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Charles William Drake, who died in April 1978, and his wife, Edith, who died June 23 of this year. He leaves four children, Marvyn L. Drake, Jr. of Sacramento, California, C. Michael Drake of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Juanita F. Hartley of Pulaski, Iowa and Barbara J. Hand of Burlington, Iowa; two step-daughters, Mary Lou Natoli and Beverly Vickery, both of Cortland, New York. He is also survived by one sister, Lura Lockridge of Magill, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held Thursday, July 11, at Fielding Funeral Home, with Rev. Lynn Ryon officiating. Pallbearers were Rusty Hartley, Joe Egbert, John Ells, Kenneth Hartley and Jack Steele. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery.
