Batdorff was born in Rockford, Illinois, August 22, 1852, and departed this life May 16, 1927. When she was nine years old, she moved with her parents to Neponset, Illinois, and grew to womanhood at that place. On July 10, 1883, she was united in marriage to George H. Dennis of the same place, and in the year 1887, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis came to Fairmont; where thy since made their home. When Mrs. Dennis was but ten years of age, she gave her heart and life to Christ, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church; and when coming to Fairmont, she with her husband, transferred membership to the Fairmont Methodist Episcopal church, being received into the fellowship of this church January 20, 1887. Twelve years ago Mrs. Dennis' health began to fail, and for the last four years she has been a great sufferer, until the end finally came, and God took her to be with Him. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; one brother, Jonathan Batdorff of Hamburg, Iowa, who with his daughter, Luella, were at her bedside during the last days of her early life. Besides other relatives, she leaves a large number of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the church by the pastor, Rev. A. G. Swanson, assisted by Rev. O.H. Albertson, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery.
