Koppes died at her home in this city Thursday, June 4, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 28 days. Funeral services were held from the St. Gregory’s Catholic church Saturday morning at 9 o’clock and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Her grandsons officiated as pall bearers. Mary Agatha Piergue was born in Havre, France, June 4, 1846. When but two months old she came with her parents to the United States and resided at Peru, Ill. Here she grew to womanhood and when 20 years of age was united in marriage to Frank Stoehr. For a few years they continued to make their home in Illinois leaving that state to come to Kansas where they settled on a farm 2 ½ miles southeast of Herkimer. To Mr. and Mrs. Stoehr were born 11 children three of whom preceded their mother in death. Mr. Stoehr died March 4, 1899. On May 9, 1904, deceased was married to Nicholas Koppes and came to Marysville to make her home and had resided here ever since. She had been a woman very active for her years until just recently. A few months ago she was operated upon for varicose veins and later developed abscess of the veins from which cause she was confined to her bed for four weeks. She was getting along very nicely when inflammation set in and although everything possible was done for her relief she passed away as above stated. Mrs. Koppes was a member of the Altar society of the Catholic church and a member of the W. R. C. She was a kind and loving mother and was ever ready to help a friend or neighbor in need. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her death eight children, Mrs. George Siebert, and Mrs. John Fritz of Denver; Lawrence Stoehr of Herkimer; Mrs. R. H. Lavery, Mrs. Josephine Schriefer, Frank Stoehr, Mrs. Edward Rogers, and Mrs. Wm. Hahn of Marysville; one sister, Mrs. Henry L. Wessler of Ogden, Utah; one brother, J. L.
