Mary Alice Corbin was born in Argyle, Wis. on May 23, 1858. She departed this life at Ewing, Nebr. on March 31, 1943. She was one of the real Nebraska pioneers. Mary Alice Corbin was born in Argyle, Wis. on May 23, 1858. She departed this life at Ewing, Nebr. on March 31, 1943. She was one of the real Nebraska pioneers. She and her sister came into Albion on the first train over the Union Pacific tracks from Columbus, riding part of the way in the engine. Her sister taught school in the first sod school house in the county. Coming to Nebraska as a girl, she was married in 1879 to Sam Killham, and to them were born five children, Ralph C. of Albion; Bernice, who died in infancy; Samuel R. of Ewing, Nebr.; Guy C. of North Platte, Nebr.; and Lola M. Keeshan of Albion, Nebr. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, other relatives and a large number of friends. She was for many years a member of the Methodist church at St. Edward, Nebr., and was loyal during her active years to all of its interests. She belonged to the Royal Neighbors and Rebekahs and was presiding officer for a period of time in both these organizations. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – April 8, 1943)
