Mary Alice Boyer, 79, Barnard, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was born April 14, 1924 in Maryville, Mo., the daughter of the late Clifford Wayne and Bernice Lucile Westfall Helzer. She was a lifelong resident of Northwest Missouri. Mary Alice Boyer, 79, Barnard, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was born April 14, 1924 in Maryville, Mo., the daughter of the late Clifford Wayne and Bernice Lucile Westfall Helzer. She was a lifelong resident of Northwest Missouri. She was a graduate of Graham High School and had attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Boyer on Aug. 7, 1960 in Graham, Mo. They had made their home in Barnard since 1960. She was a member of the Barnard United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, Barnard, Mo; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; and the Morgan Sunshine Club, Graham, Mo. Alice was also an independent Avon representative. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Marjorie Helzer; and an infant daughter. Survivors include: husband, Gilbert F. Boyer, of the home in Barnard; four daughters, M. Carolyn Wells, Houston, Texas, Patricia A. Brost, St. Joseph, Judith L. McKain, Gladstone, Barbara J. Cowan, Barnard; three sons, R. Michael Evans, Maryville, Mo., Kenneth L. Evans, San Antonio, Texas and J. Mark Boyer, Faucett, Mo.; two brothers, Kenneth W. Helzer, Graham, Mo. and Forrest R. Helzer, Florissant, Mo.; two sisters, Martha Jean Allen, Independence, Mo. and Grace Louise Snowberger, Delhi, La.; a stepsister, Marjorie Louise Harris, Archie, Mo.; two half-sisters, Dorothy Ann Gubser, Shenandoah, Iowa and Lois Elaine Barton, Gallatin, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a plethora of nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be given to the Barnard United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Barnard United Methodist Church, Barnard, Mo. Visitation: from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Mo. Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, Mo. NOTE: This is what I had before I got Obituary. Daughter of Clifford Wayne and Bernice Lucille (Westfall) Helzer. Sadly her mother died when she was just 12 years of age. I can only add a bit of a Bio from research I've done for husbands family tree. She never used her first name that I have found. Always going by Alice. So this is just facts, though I left out married names of her daughters. United in marriage with Raymond Lewis Evens about 1943-44 in Missouri. Five children were born to them before marriage ended. They are: Carolyn Evans Patricia Ann Evans Judith Lynn Evans Raymond Michael Evans Kenneth Evens On Aug 7, 1960 she was united in marriage with Gilbert Francis Boyer in Nodaway County. They had two children born to them. They are: Mark Boyer Barbara Boyer Surviving were her children, husband Gilbert of 43 years, brothers; Kenneth Wayne Helzer & Forrest Robert Helzer, sisters; Martha Jean Helzer Allen and Grace Louise Helzer Snowberger. She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband and niece Martha Lynn Allen Brown. As this date May 2014, not only has her husband joined her, but one of her sisters (in this cemetery) both of her brothers, two of her sons and one of her daughters.
