Description	:	Allene Bolanos, 86, a 55 year Wenatchee area resident, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Central Washington Hospital. She was born on September 25, 1922, at Cheney, KS to the late Henry and Lucy (Meng) Wehkamp. She was raised and began her education at Cheney, KS and later attended high school in Kingman, KS. She continued her education by attending and graduating from Nursing School in Wichita, KS. In February of 1944, she entered the U.S. Army and served as a Nurse during W.W.II. Read More	Allene Bolanos, 86, a 55 year Wenatchee area resident, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Central Washington Hospital. She was born on September 25, 1922, at Cheney, KS to the late Henry and Lucy (Meng) Wehkamp. She was raised and began her education at Cheney, KS and later attended high school in Kingman, KS. She continued her education by attending and graduating from Nursing School in Wichita, KS. In February of 1944, she entered the U.S. Army and served as a Nurse during W.W.II. She was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in May of 1946. While in the service, she met Robert H. Bolanos, who was a Flight Instructor and they were later married on February 16, 1948, at Hollywood, CA. They made their first home together in the Los Angeles area. In the late 1940's, they moved to Salem, OR, where they remained until moving to East Wenatchee in 1954. They later moved to make their home in Wenatchee and in 1966, they planted a 15 acre orchard in East Wenatchee. On December 31, 1970, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Bolanos. She went back to work as a Registered Nurse at Colonial Vista and became their Director of Nurses. She served a total of 23 years, before completely retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and Lazarus Guild. She enjoyed and supported her children and their activities, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Mariners and Seahawks fan. She is survived by one daughter, Bonita George and husband, Steve Zimberoff of Rui Doso, NM; four sons, Don Bolanos of Friday Harbor, Bill Bolanos and fiancé, Katie Kobold of Seattle, Bob and his wife, Debbie Bolanos of Seattle and Jim and his wife, Shelly Bolanos of East Wenatchee; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Alvin Wehkamp of Cimarron, KS and Jim and Theresa Wehkamp of Garden City, KS; one sister, Bernita Cook of New Brighton, MN; eight grandchildren, Tami Lawrence of Wenatchee, Michelle Zimberoff of Bellingham, Bobby Bolanos of Seattle, Grant Bolanos of Seattle, Aimee Farley of Wenatchee, Jacqueline Bolanos of Wenatchee and Blaise Jewell of East Wenatchee; and two great-grandchildren, Miette Lawrence and Kyler Jewell, both of Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, Wilfred and Gerald Wehkamp. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 5:00 p.m., with the Rev. Fr. Tom Kuykendall officiating. The Services will conclude at the church.
