The contracting parties were City Attorney L. L. Thompson and Miss Allie Burr, daughter of the late M. S. Burr, for many years the leading banker of the town. The nuptials were quietly celebrated during the last fleeting moments of the century which became a thing of the past at midnight. The ceremony, which ended at 11:59 o’clock, was performed by Rev. J. F. Brereton, in the presence of a small company of relatives and near friends. Mr. Thompson is the youngest member of the Bremer County bar. He has been very successful in his profession besides winning recognition as a political speaker and a clever writer of juvenile stories. The bride is the grand-niece of former Senator Vilas of Wisconsin, and is popular in local society.
