Description	:	LINCOLNVILLE – Mary Ames Heald, 67, died suddenly, Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at her home. Born Sept. 22, 1939, in Camden, she was the daughter of Harold L. and Edna (Higgins) Ames. Mary was a 1957 graduate of Camden High School and attended Husson College, Bangor. During high school, Mary played on the Crimson Tide girl’s championship basketball team in the Knox-Lincoln League, which held the greatest record in Maine high school girl’s basketball history, having 88 consecutive wins. Read More	LINCOLNVILLE – Mary Ames Heald, 67, died suddenly, Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at her home. Born Sept. 22, 1939, in Camden, she was the daughter of Harold L. and Edna (Higgins) Ames. Mary was a 1957 graduate of Camden High School and attended Husson College, Bangor. During high school, Mary played on the Crimson Tide girl’s championship basketball team in the Knox-Lincoln League, which held the greatest record in Maine high school girl’s basketball history, having 88 consecutive wins. She married Charles C. Heald, June 22, 1958, in Camden. They moved to Easton, Pa. in 1960 and spent 35 happy years there raising their family. In 1995, they moved to Lincolnville to enjoy retirement “at the lake.” Mary was a long-time member of Palmer Moravian Church, Easton, Pa. and joined John Street United Methodist Church, Camden, upon returning to Maine. These extended families, along with the friendships she enjoyed while traveling extensively with Charlie, filled her days with great love and laughter. Mary will be missed by her husband of 48 years, Charles of Lincolnville, whom she adored; three children, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her beloved border collie, Samantha. Mary is also survived by a brother and his wife; a sister and her husband, 2 sisters-in-laws, and many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by a great-grand-daughter, Bailey Heald; brothers-in-law Douglass Heald and Fred Haining. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Private burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Lincolnville, at the convenience of the family. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 84 Elm St., Camden, ME 04843. Arrangements are with the Laite Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden.
